Contact Us and we will post any reports that we receive of stolen or lost and found birds within Australia in the format below.

We are also aware of a global site which automatically defaults to your local country of origin when reporting your lost and/or stolen birds that is building up a large database of these reports - well worth reporting your losses and checking to see if your birds have been listed as found and/or before you buy any new birds to avoid buying any birds that may have been stolen!

WARNING TO AUSTRALIAN BIRD KEEPERS:

CHECK THIS LIST OF PARROTS ON THE PET DIRECTORY WEBSITE WHICH WERE STOLEN YESTERDAY MORNING (6 January 2012) AND BE ON THE ALERT IF YOU ARE OFFERED A CHEAP PARROT.   Thousands of dollars worth of exotic parrots were stolen from a bird breeder's own home in the early hours of Friday morning 6 January 2012.

BIRD SCAMMER ALERT (Email received from Mr John McGrath, Monday, 14 March 2011)

I have just got off the phone to a lady from Maitland in NSW, who is in the process of buying a bird off me.  She was checking to make sure that I was not a Scammer.  I gave her a few referrals in the Hunter Valley region to cross reference me by.

Her fears where produced by the fact that her sister was scammed very recently (if not today) by somebody that had taken $1,500.00 off her as a deposit on an African Grey Parrot.  The money had been deposited as cash in to a Post Office some where and the money had been collected.  I advised her to get her sister to the Police and that she had three points of contact.... apparently the money receiver had emailed her to say “You have been scammed!”, therefore she has an email address; also she has a mobile phone number; as well I pointed out that to collect that much money from a Post Office, the receiver would have to present identification such as a drivers licence.

I send this to you as a warning, I don't even think like that!

These people are still out there.

Regards John McGrath
